I paint in oils. Colour is the dominant driver in all my works, creating vibrant still life and rich tonal landscapes. My paintings are inspired initially by colours I observe in the landscape and things around me. I allow the mark-making and textures created as I layer the paint, to project the essence of the object or place.

Originally an accountant, Jonquil always sought an outlet for her creativity. In her late 30s she began taking life drawing and then watercolour classes. Once she found oil painting, she began to develop her art practice more seriously and after her 2013 diploma in Art and Design, joined the vibrant arts community that is Wimbledon Art Studios.
